Lisa Landman is an accomplished professional with a Doctorate in Psychology from Fordham University. She was initially drawn to a psychology degree because she has a passion for helping others. Recently, Lisa Landman worked with special needs adults. Her favorite part of this job was getting to know each resident because she admires their
r optimistic attitude. Over the years, Lisa has also worked in a variety of areas such as fitness, teaching, and Human Resources. For eleven years, Lisa was responsible for almost every business aspect of her own fitness center. Her vast realm of work experience allows her to thrive in virtually any situation.
In 2002, Lisa Landman graduated from Yale University with a degree in psychology. She became interested in psychology after taking a class taught by Peter Salovey, the current president of Yale University. Lisa was dedicated to going to office hours and learning as much as possible about psychology from Dr. Salovey, who is the one that guided her to apply to graduate school. Lisa decided to continue her education at Fordham University where she earned her MA in 2004, and then her doctorate in 2005. Throughout her career at Fordham, Lisa worked as a research assistant and published two pieces of work titled: "The Relationship Between Children’s Beliefs About the Stability of Traits, Rumination, and Negative Affect," and "Depressed Mood in Adolescents."
Lisa Landman started college later than most other students. When she began taking college classes, her daughter was still in kindergarten. Not being the typical student made learning challenging, but it also taught Lisa life lessons about hard work and perseverance—lessons that have supported her to excel in every position she has worked in during her career. Ultimately, the most valuable lesson that Lisa Landman has discovered is that if you want something bad enough you’ll be able to find a way to get it as long as you work hard and don’t give up.
One of Lisa's favorite aspects of working in the field of psychology is trying to understand people and their motivations. Over the course of her profession, Lisa has had the opportunity to work with a wide range of people. She especially enjoys working with adults with disabilities because, in some ways, adults with disabilities are an overlooked population. As their parents age or pass away, adults with disabilities risk receiving less assistance. Lisa is committed to supporting this population in any way she can.
Lisa Landman loves dogs, and at the moment she and her husband live with six rescue dogs! She has had dogs her entire life. Her first dog was a beagle named Snoopy, then came her German Shepard Icy, a Dalmatian named Brandy, her bulldog named Jake and a Peek-a-poo named Nessie. Over the years, Lisa has been committed to helping dogs, and this led her to adopt six rescue dogs. She firmly believes in adopting because there are so many dogs who need a home and she is a strong advocate of stopping puppy mills. Although six dogs can be challenging, Lisa and her husband love their dogs and are happy to provide a home for adorable animals.
