Lucy is a technologist & visionary at heart. A first generation immigrant, she moved to the US at 12YO and was brought up by a biomedical engineer and a material scientist. She started building at a young age, helping her father build a carbon fiber bike at 7YO that won an international award in Paris and publishing her work on nanoparticle
research for cancer drug delivery while in high school.
After graduating with a Mathematics degree from Brown University, Lucy started her career as an Investment Associate at Bridgewater on the research team working directly with Ray Dalio. It was there that she realized the power that can be harnessed from data with advanced techniques.
She then pursued a Master's in Machine Learning at NYU Courant, studying under respected researchers including Yann Lecun and Kyunghun Cho. Her work there included building multimodal models & attention mechanisms, both critical stepping stones for LLMs.
Lucy spent the last 10 years as an institutional investor and operator. She helped launch two computational startups: Livepeer, a peer to peer video transcoding network built on ethereum; and Rendered AI, a synthetic data platform for machine learning applications. She got her start in VC at Greycroft, working directly with the legendary Alan Patricof, a founding father of the industry. She later joined 11.2 Capital, leading deep tech investments in software and hardware.
As a first check investor, 20% of her investments have become unicorns. Breakouts include Covariant AI, Immuta, and Clay.
