Dr. Burns is the scientific founder of Aminex Therapeutics. He has seventeen years’ experience in biotechnology companies, with twelve years in management positions; at his former company, MediQuest Therapeutics, his leadership of a creative scientific group enabled him to advance four projects from inception through advanced preclinical stage.
Over twelve years, he developed his entrepreneurial, management and scientific skills and was promoted from Senior Scientist to Executive Director of Chemistry. His knowledge of polyamine chemistry and biology is demonstrated by obtaining 15 US Patents and publishing 21 scientific papers in top-tier journals in this field. Dr. Burns has made important contributions to the scientific fields of medicinal, combinatorial, enzyme inhibitor design, analytical and process chemistry. He earned a Ph.D. at the University of Michigan and continued post-doctoral training in bio-organic chemistry at Rice University.
