Mark gained his PhD from the University of Cambridge in the laboratories where the use of embryonic stem cells in mammalian functional genomics was pioneered by Professor Sir Martin Evans (Nobel prize for Medicine 2007). Mark has over 20 years experience of research and management in this area and was a co-founder of Paradigm Therapeutics Ltd in
1999 and Paradigm Therapeutics Singapore in 2003. Mark drove the company's drug discovery, operational and corporate growth. Paradigm established an industrialized mouse knockout, phenotyping capability that was integrated to a Drug Discovery engine which together attracted Takeda to firstly partner with Paradigm in the CNS area, then to full acquisition by Takeda. Mark was appointed President and CSO of Takeda Cambridge and Takeda Singapore in March 2007.
