Martin began his investment banking career in 2007 with Lazard Singapore. He was part of the core deal team providing independent corporate finance advisory to corporate leaders in Southeast Asia. Martin has worked on a myriad of asset disposal and restructuring transactions in the financial institutions sector working on more than US$3 billion
worth of transactions in total.
In 2010, Martin joined Standard Chartered Bank as a strategic client coverage banker, providing investment banking coverage to C-level executives of banks and insurance companies in Asia. Covering North Asia extensively, he worked on a wide range of M&A and equity / debt fund raising transactions.
Martin began his institutional investing career when he joined the Principal investment business of DBS Bank in 2012. He worked on investments in Southeast Asian companies and helped to manage the exit process for portfolio companies.
In 2015, seeing a clear opportunity for venture debt in Southeast Asia, Martin asked for an internal transfer to help establish and launch DBS Venture Growth Partners, spearheading DBS’ new venture debt business. During his 4 year tenure, Martin completed nearly US$40 million worth of venture loans to Southeast Asia based VC-backed technology start-ups.
In 2018, Martin co-founded Genesis Alternative Ventures, Southeast Asia's premier venture debt fund along with his two other GPs.
Martin has a Bachelor’s degree in Economics and Finance from the Curtin University of Technology.
