Matt is a highly successful professional investor with extensive investment and economics experience across various industries in Asia and was a pioneer institutional asset manager in China. He co-founded F&H in 2010 and oversaw F&H’s development into a leading Asian investment platform.
Matt’s representative milestone investments
includes Shanghai Maling (SSE: 600073), Yili (SSE: 600887) and China Southern Airlines (SSE: 600029). At the forefront of Chinese cross-border investment, Matt started trading global equities and forex since the 1990s. With his systematic approach in investment and trading, Matt had successfully achieved top return on investment, even during bear years in the absence of hedging instruments.
Matt takes a hands-on approach to due diligence, having personally visited and interviewed several hundred companies and CEOs. He is a forward-thinking economist and seasoned investor with tremendous understanding of the cross-intricacies of social, economic and political landscapes in Greater China. Often sought by Asian media for his views on investment and socio-political topics, Matt has also co-authored two books on funds and investments in China.
Between 1991 and 2005, Matt held key management and director positions in several leading investments and asset management firms in Greater China. As Head of Asset Management and Investment Committee member of China Securities Ltd (one of the largest investment bank in China), he managed one of China’s largest portfolios.
Matt graduated from Renmin University with a BSc in Economics. He is a member of the Saïd Business School, University of Oxford EMBA.
