Matthew Crummack is an experienced executive having led the transformation of big consumer-facing digital brands across different geographies, and currently serves as the CEO of Domestic and General.
From 2016 Matthew was the Group CEO of financial and home services business GoCo Group plc prior to its sale in 2021 to Future plc for $794m. He led
the company’s growth through transforming the UK price comparison website GoCompare, alongside the creation and launch of an innovative automated switching service, bolstered by the acquisition of Dragon’s Den-winner “Look After My Bills” in 2019. Prior to that, Matthew was the CEO of lastminute.com Group from 2011 where he led the turnaround of the business prior to its sale to Bravofly Rumbo Group for $120m in 2015, when he became Deputy CEO and Chief Integration Officer during the transition.
Previously he was Senior Vice President of Lodging at Expedia, instrumental in building Expedia’s hotel inventory and price competitiveness, particularly in Europe where the company faced significant competition in its Hotels business. He also managed the move of Expedia’s Lodging business from the U.S. to Geneva, Switzerland, and managed the integration of Venere into Expedia following its acquisition. Earlier, he was VP of Transport and Tour Operators in Expedia’s Partner Services Group. Prior to Expedia Matthew was global business development director for Nestle UK, and started his career in sales and marketing in the UK and Europe with Procter & Gamble where he worked on the European expansion of brands such as Pringles and The Iams Company.
Matthew serves as a Senior Non-Executive Independent Director at National Express plc, a Non-Executive Director and advisor to Kidadl (start-up), and as a Member of Aston University’s Advancement Board helping the University engage with external stakeholders. Matthew received a BSc in International Business and Modern Languages from Aston University in the UK, an ERASMUS diploma from the IECS Business School in Strasbourg, France and in 2016 was made an Honorary Doctor of Science by Aston University.
Matthew has lived and worked internationally in the US, France and Switzerland, loves travelling, languages and experiencing new cultures. While not running around in businesses, he enjoys running outside and is most at home outdoors on a mountain or in the water.
