Matthew Rose was Chairman of the Board and Chief Executive Officer of Burlington Northern Santa Fe, LLC (a freight rail system based in Fort Worth, Texas and a subsidiary of Berkshire Hathaway Inc., formerly known as Burlington Northern Santa Fe Corporation) and has served in this capacity since 2002, having also served as President until 2010.
Before serving as its Chairman, Rose held several leadership positions there and at its predecessors, including President and Chief Executive Officer from 2000 to 2002, President and Chief Operating Officer from 1999 to 2000, and Senior Vice President and Chief Operations Officer from 1997 to 1999. Rose also serves as Executive Chairman of BNSF Railway Company (a subsidiary of Burlington Northern Santa Fe, LLC), having served as Chairman and Chief Executive Officer from 2002 to 2013. He earned his B.S. in marketing from the University of Missouri. Rose has been a Director of AT&T since 2010. He is a member of the Corporate Governance and Nominating Committee and the Human Resources Committee. He is a Director of BNSF Railway Company; Burlington Northern Santa Fe, LLC; and Fluor Corporation. He previously served as a Director of AMR Corporation (2004-2013).
