Prior to co-founding Zonoff, Mike Balog was CTO and co-founder of BuLogics, a wireless mesh networking technology that launched in the Philadelphia area in 2003. Mike joined Zonoff in 2011 when the company acquired BuLogics’ consumer technology portfolio.
While at BuLogics, Mike was instrumental in designing and operating the first Z-Wave
Certification Test Facility in the world. In 2008, the Z-Wave Alliance chose BuLogics from a long list of interested companies and in 2009, the Z-Wave Alliance and BuLogics trained a second test house in Germany. BuLogics was chosen for this because Mike had been actively involved in the Z-Wave Alliance’s technical activities since its inception. As a result, Mike has been "under the hood" of virtually every device in the Z-Wave ecosystem and knows what it takes to bring out the best in them via Zonoff's core control software.
Prior to BuLogics, Mike worked for Rydal Research & Development, as a Research and Design Engineer. Prior to that, he played a significant role in the development of high performance computing prototypes for the Air Force, Navy, and Missile Defense Association at Intel where he also worked with Field Application Engineers to support Intel’s line of embedded products. Balog earned his Masters Degree in Electrical Engineering and his Doctorate of Philosophy in Electrical Engineering from Drexel University.
