Michael is a board-certified music therapist with his NICU music therapy designation and holds a Bachelor of Music Education from Illinois State University and a Master’s degree in music therapy from The University of Kansas. Michael is an active music therapy researcher with a special focus on feeding, sensory integration, and neurodevelopment of
infants admitted to the neonatal intensive care unit. He also works with parents and caregivers to provide education on infant development and sensory integration. Michael presents nationally and internationally to music therapy and medical audiences. He has published music therapy research and literature on the early childhood population in nursing and music therapy journals. He is a fellow for the National Institute for Infant & Child Medical Music Therapy through Florida State University and has been named a research collaborator for Early Notes Network: Music Therapy Consortium for Childhood Neurodevelopment, which aims to improve experimental research, advocacy, and enhancement of clinical practice.
