Chen Qi is the Founder and Chief Executive Officer at MOGU Inc. MOGU started out as a social site where users created photo collages of fashion items. Now it is a fashion e-commerce platform where the company makes money from merchants paying commissions.
A videogame enthusiast who majored in computer science, Chen, who joined Alibaba in2004,
helped design the interface of Alibaba’s shopping site, Taobao, including a system that allows merchants to monitor transactions. He came up with the idea of a fashion-themed e-commerce site after seeing the heavy traffic generated by his wife’s fashion blog. Chen Qi quit his software engineering job at Chinese e-commerce giant Alibaba Group Holding Ltd. in 2010.
Qi is a graduate (B.S.) from the Computer Science and Technology Department of Zhejiang University.
