Sun Yafang joined Huawei in 1989, and had served as an engineer of the Marketing & Sales Dept, Director of the Training Center, President of the Procurement Dept, General Manager of Wuhan Office, President of the Marketing & Sales Dept, Chair of the Human Resources Committee, Chair of the Business Transformation Executive Steering Committee
(BT-ESC), Chair of the Strategy and Customer Standing Committee, and President of Huawei University. Since 1999, Sun has been the Chairwoman of the Board.
Prior to joining Huawei, Sun Yafang worked as a technician at the state-owned Xinxiang Liaoyuan Radio Factory in 1982, a teacher at China Research Institute of Radio Wave Propagation in 1983, and an engineer at Beijing Research Institute of Information Technology in 1985.
Sun Yafang was born in 1955, and graduated in 1982 with a bachelor's degree from Chengdu University of Electronic Science and Technology.
