Nathaniel Potter was a graduate of the University of Pennsylvania and came to Baltimore in 1797. After helping found the School of Medicine and securing its charter to operate, Nathaniel Potter served as the first Professor of Theory and Practice of Medicine, a position he held from 1807 until 1843, the year of his death.
