Nicolas China is a natural problem solver. As CEO of Pixilated, he drives product design, growth strategy, and builds the supporting organizational infrastructure. An entrepreneur from an early age, Nicolas has a knack for seeing ideas through to implementation.
Pixilated steadily built a reputation as a leader in the event photo booth industry.
Using lean startup methods and leveraging digital marketing, the founders bootstrapped the company with just a few thousand dollars and a handful of personal credit cards. Serving over 2,500 events and generating over $2.5 million in revenues to date, Pixilated raised capital to develop its own photo booth platform to serve its growing B2B clients for their marketing needs, and to streamline its existing events operation. The Pixilated software platform, PixiCloud (www.pixi.cloud) launched in October 2017 and is changing the landscape of photo marketing for brands.
Nicolas also co-founded Startup Soiree, a Baltimore community of entrepreneurs and creatives that has grown to several thousand members since 2014.
Before Pixilated, he spent 5 years as a project manager for his family’s contracting business, managing $5 million in contracts with crews of up to 25 workers. Born and raised in Baltimore, Maryland, he graduated from Wake Forest University (North Carolina) in 2006 with a Bachelor's degree in Art, specializing in photography, design, and sculpture. Raised in an entrepreneurial family, he was mentored from a young age by his Italian-immigrant grandfather who taught him the value of both hard work and resourcefulness.
