Phil Samuels is the President of Amerisc, a division of USI, which is the 8th largest insurance broker in the United States. Prior to the sale to USI, Amerisc was in the top 10 Insurance Brokers in the NY Metropolitan Region. Phil’s career path began in 1977 when he joined Aetna Casualty and Surety becoming a Supervising Commercial Account
Underwriter. A few years later he joined a regional insurance brokerage firm as a sales representative working his way up to Sales Manager, supervising 10 salesmen, while maintaining his own client base. In 1996, Phil and his partner formed Amerisc, one of the fastest growing Insurance Brokerage firms with sales in excess of $100,000,000. In 2011, Amerisc sold to USI Holding Corp, a portfolio company of Goldman Sachs Capital Partners. Phil’s responsibilities include managing the existing Long Island offices of USI and integrating them with the current Amerisc organization into one location. This combined operation is the 4th largest USI office in the country.
Phil graduated from the University of Miami with a Bachelors Degree in Business Administration and Marketing and completed the Advanced Executive Education Program at the Wharton School of Business. He obtained the Accredited Advisor Insurance Degree and has taught numerous industry classes including lecturing for the Advanced Graduate Course for Business at Columbia University. Phil has served on numerous councils and producer advisory boards of several insurance companies.
