Rich joined Foundation Capital in 2004 after more than twenty years in networking and communications, with a combination of start-up entrepreneurial as well as large company intrapreneurial experience.
Most recently, he was President and CEO of Atheros Communications, the leading Wi-Fi semiconductor supplier, which was acquired by Qualcomm in
2011 for over $3-billion. Rich joined Atheros as a start-up with 21 engineers and an office manager and left shortly before the company's IPO filing.
Prior to Atheros, Rich was Vice President and General Manager of 3Com's Wireless and Home Connectivity Division; where he was a pioneer in home networking. He spent more than ten years at 3Com in various sales, marketing, and general management positions.
Prior to 3Com, Rich was Chief Operating Officer of Polygon, a communications software start-up.
Rich began his professional career with TeleVideo Systems, an early leader in personal computers and networking.
Rich currently serves on the boards of ACCO Semiconductor, Cyphort, Fastback Networks and Transphorm, and was previously on the boards of Mobius Microsystems (IDT), Prematics (NaviNet), SiBEAM (Silicon Image), Atheros Communications (Qualcomm), Ventiva, and Dust Networks.
He has a BSIE from Purdue and an MBA from Harvard Business School.
