Robert F. Buckman, Jr., M.D. is an internationally- known surgeon and inventor of medical technology. Formerly a full professor of surgery in the Temple University School of Medicine, he served for 15 years as the director of the busiest trauma center in the city of Philadelphia. During this period, he won numerous awards for clinical excellence
and surgical teaching. He is the author or co-author of approximately 100 surgical publications and 15 United States patents.
Dr. Buckman has been an examiner for the American Board of Surgery. He served for more than a decade in the medical corps of the United States Army Reserve achieving the rank of lieutenant colonel. He saw overseas duty with the 300th Field Hospital in Saudi Arabia, during operation Desert Storm.
Dr. Buckman is a 1972 graduate of the Duke Medical School, and received his surgical training at the Johns Hopkins Hospital, the University of Medicine and Dentistry of New Jersey-Rutgers and the University of Maryland Shock /Trauma Unit. He spent three years as a researcher in the division of Surgery at the Walter Reed Army Institute of Research.
