Ronnie Kells attended Sullivan Upper School, Holywood and, later, Queen’s University Belfast (BScEcon). Mr Kells retired in 1998 as Group Chief Executive of the Ulster Bank, following a career in stockbroking and banking spanning 44 years. He is a Fellow of the Chartered Institute of Secretaries and Administrators and of the Institute of Bankers

The founding Chairman of the Northern Ireland Film Commission and the Northern Ireland Small Business Institute, Mr Kells is also a Director of a number of public and private companies, a member of the Board of Directors of QUBIS Ltd and also serves as a Non-Executive Director of Readymix Plc.; Chairman of United Drug PLC; and a number of other companies. In addition, he is a former member of the University’s Investment Committee and is Chairman of the Trustees of the Retirement Benefits Plan.
He holds an OBE, a BSc(Econ), and FCIS. Ronnie has been a governor of the British Film Institute since 1997.
