Sam is the co-founder and CTO of Mysten Labs, and the creator of the Move programming language. He is a researcher and engineer specializing in programming language design, program verification, and developer tools.
Prior to co-founding Mysten Labs, Sam was a Principal Engineer at Facebook working on the Move language, the Libra blockchain, and
the Infer static analyzer. He earned his PhD in programming languages from the University of Colorado at Boulder with a thesis on flexible goal-direct abstract interpretation. He graduated from Williams College with a BA in computer science and philosophy.
