As a physician-scientist and a seasoned drug-developer, Dr. Patil has contributed to the preclinical and clinical development of novel therapeutics for nearly 15 years at pharmaceutical companies, both big and small, as well as start-up organizations. He has successfully executed multiple early-to-late phase projects and keyed productive alliances

with partners in the pharmaceutical industry. With a primary focus on scientific inquiry of early-stage drug candidates, Dr. Patil is also credited with leading or contributing to the pre- or post-approval development of Trintellix (Takeda), Strattera (Lilly), Zyprexa (Lilly), and Seroquel (AstraZeneca). His work in drug development has resulted in publications in top-tier scientific journals, such as Nature Medicine and International Journal of Neuropsyhopharmacology, as well as multiple patent filings. Dr. Patil has deep interest in biomarker discovery and was an early pioneer in bridging proteomics and early drug development efforts.

Dr. Patil established many successful collaborations between pharmaceutical companies and top academic institutions such as University of Pennsylvania, Johns Hopkins and Yale. He completed his Master’s and PhD training in Physiology and Cell Biology from the Albany Medical College, graduating with top academic and research awards. He performed his clinical residency in Psychiatry at the University of Pennsylvania before entering pharmaceutical research and development. His therapeutic area expertise and interests include schizophrenia, Alzheimer’s disease, Parkinson's disease, cognitive impairment in schizophrenia, major depression, generalized anxiety disorder, panic disorder, eating disorders, multiple sclerosis, ADHD, chronic pain, biomarkers, and pharmacoproteomics.
