At his core, Scott is an operator with a depth of expertise and experience resulting in a successful track record of building organizations from the ground up. Over the past 30 years, he has become an industry leading CEO with four consecutive successful exits across media, consumer products, event entertainment and sports operating in both in the
private equity and public sectors. The four exits delivered aggregate enterprise value of over $700mm.
In 2019, Scott partnered with Presidio Advisors to take the helm as the CEO of Podium Publishing, an industry-leading independent audiobook publisher built upon the foundation of successful partnerships with self-published authors and narrators. With deep share of voice in the genres of Science Fiction, Fantasy and Romance, the company has enjoyed quick commercial and critical acclaim, releasing over 1,500 audiobooks, numerous best-sellers, winning an Audie Award and five Voice Arts Awards. Podium is best-known for supporting, nurturing and discovering independent authors and narrators from the U.S. and around the world.
Prior to Podium, Dickey was the CEO of TEN: The Enthusiast Network, a business he led through a wide scale reorganization and a successful turnaround to become the world’s premier network of enthusiast media brands. In 2017, having built a dominant position in automotive as the largest producer of enthusiast content catering to car enthusiasts across every channel of distribution except broadcast, Dickey led the majority control sale of the business to Discovery Communication. Following the sale the company was renamed Motor Trend Group and in the fall of 2018 Dickey stepped down, a year following the sale and successful transition to Discovery.
Prior to joining TEN, Dickey was previously the President & CEO of Competitor Group, where he was instrumental in leading the development of the company’s media business as well as the rapid expansion of the company’s flagship the Rock ‘n’ Roll Marathon Series, which grew from 5 events in 2007 to over 30 events around the world in 2012. Scott led the successful sale of the company in 2012 and then spent 2013 transitioning the business to new ownership.
Previously as President of Transworld Media, a former division of Time Warner, Scott led the reorganization and ultimate sale of the action sports media company to Bonnier Worldwide. He was recruited to Transworld from K2 Inc., a leading manufacturer and distributor of premier branded sporting goods equipment (NYSE: KTO), where for five years he was President of its K2 Licensed Products division as well as K2 Properties, a division he organized and launched.
Beginning in 2001, Scott was President and COO of Fotoball USA Inc., a publicly traded sports and entertainment licensed product manufacturer (NASDAQ: FUSA), where he completed a financial turnaround before selling to K2 Inc. in 2004. Earlier in his career, Dickey held top executive posts at leading sports and entertainment entities including The Walt Disney Company and the National Basketball Association.
Scott has been a keynote speaker & panelist at several industry conferences including World Congress of Sports, Running USA, The Running Event, Triathlon Business International, Spa Industry Association, AdMonsters, Folio, Magazine Publishers Assoc., and Digital Content Next. Scott is also former board member of non-profit organizations Kids Korp USA & Voices for Children as well as Former Operating partner at Falconhead Capital and former Chairman of the Board of Javo Beverage LLC. Scott currently sits on the board of GoNoodle, an educational video platform distributed in elementary schools across the U.S. and JumpCrew, a sales lead generation digital agency headquartered in Nashville, TN.
Scott is an active runner, skier, golfer and working on becoming a surfer and better stand-up paddler. He resides in Manhattan Beach with his wife, Ilia, and two boys, and has been an active member of YPO Int’l (Young Presidents Organization) for the past 17 years.
