Hello!
I am a scholar turned entrepreneur. While pursuing a clinical program in China during 2018, I began to sense a significant divide between academic and functional knowledge. This influenced the decision to give up my scholarship from the Chinese government in spite of their generosity, so I could pursue an entrepreneurial career and a
graduate degree in biotechnology.
Inspired by the international entrepreneurs in China and "Do More Faster" approach, I dove into the startup world and received a runner-up at the 2018 Techstars: Decentralize event in Boulder a month after leaving my clinical program and before leaving for the DC area to begin my Master's at JHU. I started gaining experience with the VC aspects of entrepreneurship during graduate school by screening ventures for a number of groups across the United States so I could understand what investors were looking for and how to scale a company prior to launching my algorithmic trading company, GZI. After outperforming some of the largest hedgefunds in the world during the coronavirus crash of 2020, I took time off from graduate school to focus on expanding GZI full-time with the help of Founder Institute and periodically help screen biotech ventures for Collaborative Alumni Angel Group, which was co-founded by my first mentor.
I have a versatile professional background in startups and investments but am most familiar with international tech startups, biotech, fintech, and international financial markets. I have a wide range of skills including full-stack programming, statistical programming, genomic data science, managerial business, and Mandarin Chinese. I am generally very busy, nevertheless, feel free to hit me up if you think we'd get along or if something about my profile speaks to you. I am still amazed things got to this point and it is in my best interest to stay both open minded and humble.
