Sean Smyth is currently Co-Founder & CEO of PechaKucha, the fastest-growing storytelling platform used by millions of people across the globe. Prior to PechaKucha, Smyth was an early employee for Groupon overseeing global business development and partner marketing. Acting as a Global VP/GM, Smyth's accomplishments at Groupon included
launching several new channels (Getaways, Groupon to Go, Coupons, Gift Cards among other); building a proprietary affiliate marketing platform that led to massive growth and distribution across upwards of 49 countries; and attaining a number of notable "firsts": closing Groupon's first mass transit deal with the Chicago Transit Authority (CTA); securing Groupon's first music deal (with Rihanna), and breaking not just one -- but two -- Guinness World Records while on the job. Smyth's also cut win-win deals with global brands such as Apple, Starbucks, eBay, M&S, Target and Sephora, and grew new business ideas into lucrative new channels. Before Groupon, Smyth oversaw marketing and product development for Metromix.com, a joint venture between Tribune Interactive and Gannett Company. Previously, Smyth served in marketing roles for AOL, Motorola and MTV subsidiaries, and several radio stations throughout the Midwest. Smyth earned an MBA from the University of Chicago Booth School of Business.
