Shawn is the Co-Founder and Chief Architect of HoneycombData. He is leading our engineering team to innovative global leading storage solutions by designing and building our unique distributed storage engine from the ground up.
Previously, Shawn worked on high performance storage stack at Google and has extensive experience with storage and
caching system design. He has performed fundamental research and development on how to enhance existing storage hierarchy to leverage NAND flash memory & SSD’s superb performance.
Shawn also designed an SSD-assisted hybrid memory system to provide a large caching pool backed by SSD. He has proposed an atomic-write primitive built inside SSD to boost MySQL performance.
He holds a PhD from Ohio State University, a leading U.S. computer science program in parallel computing and storage architecture. Shawn has one fundamental patent regarding the Storage Operations and numerous publications regarding how to use SSD and flash memory to accelerate memcached over high performance networks, which are broadly adapted by companies like Twitter, Dropbox etc.
