Dr. Sherif A. Sonbol, MD is the founder of FIIT app. He is a board certified anesthesiologist and partner in his Anesthesiology practice in Somerset, New Jersey and served as a board member of a 50 MD practice. He is a self-made man, businessman with various ventures and a Health Tech Entrepreneur passionate about revolutionizing medical healthcare
through technology.
He was born in Egypt and immigrated to the USA in 1994 where he started his internal medicine residency in the state of New York. After graduation he immediately started working in New Jersey as an anesthesiologist. It was during this time that EMR Solutions, parent company of The FIIT App became an idea.
A superior ordered a chest x-ray for a patient and then a young Dr. Sonbol could not locate them. After spending hours looking for it, his chief told him in all seriousness “Don’t waste your time, just get another one”. That moment impacted him, knowing very well, the money was wasted on that simple decision. Being in the medical field 25 years later, he can still see much of these events in medical care repeated.
With time being a precious commodity in a doctor’s daily routine with patients, the immediateness of test results is expected, leaving healthcare expenses secondary to many in the medical field. Still today, if a medical record is not quickly available, a new set of the “same” tests will be ordered. The lack of transparency and inability to have portability of medical records was not only an inconvenience but unfair to patients. He had a vision of giving patients access to own their medical information while making sure that physicians could also use it to make the right decisions and to provide the best healthcare.
In 2018, he created Portable EMR Solutions which includes the FIIT app and “Smart Kard” which serves to instantly connect a patient and a healthcare provider to all medical records and insurance coverage data, stored in the cloud-based Electronic Medical Record (EMR) database.
As a medical practitioner, understanding the need for a better and enhanced medical technology he pitched his idea to colleagues who became his earliest investors.
Dr. Sonbol is confident that The FIIT App, once adopted will become the new standard to help patients control their own healthcare and wellness and that the impact will be a game changer in the medical field.
