Stephen was a Senior Regional Credit Officer in Wells Fargo's Los Angeles Metro Division where he was responsible for the credit quality of a large loan portfolio of commercial and industrial loans to business banking clients. His duties included approving all new customers over a minimum threshold, credit training of business development and
relationship managers, decision making on work-out and restructure credits, and reporting to Division Management on portfolio quality. Stephen started his banking career in 1977 on Wall Street at Irving Trust Company, now The Bank of New York, where he received his formal credit training, followed by international division banking assignments in New York, Tokyo, and Los Angeles. Stephen graduated from Bucknell University with a BA in Japanese Studies, and received an MA in Economics from Waseda University in Tokyo, Japan, and an MA in Finance from the New York University Graduate School of Business.
