Steven Locke, MD specializes in the integration of technology-supported self-care, behavioral health and the management of chronic medical conditions into primary care. During his years teaching at Harvard Medical School where he was an Associate Professor of Psychiatry, he trained students and clinicians in communication skills and, for 14 years,
directed the Harvard-MIT e-health entrepreneurship course, “Enabling Technology Innovation in Healthcare and the Life Sciences. Currently Dr. Locke is a research psychiatrist in the Division of Clinical Informatics at Beth Israel Deaconess Medical Center and a consulting psychiatrist at Harvard’s Center for Medical Simulation, as well as a consulting psychiatrist at Beth Israel Deaconess Medical Center, assisting in the development of a telepsychiatry service for affiliated primary care practices. Dr. Locke has served on the editorial boards of several professional journals including the American Journal of Health Promotion and Population Health Management. He is a past-President of the American Psychosomatic Society and chaired the annual Summit on Behavioral Telehealth held in Boston in 2007 and 2008. Dr. Locke was awarded the Stangler Prize for Innovation by the American Association for Technology in Psychiatry (2008) and in 2009 became a Distinguished Life Fellow of the American Psychiatric Association.
