Admiral Platt initiated the AUSV’s application to military and government missions. His primary responsibilities include defining the company’s vision, establishing strategic relationships with customers and suppliers, and guiding the development and marketing of the product line. Admiral Platt’s distinguished military career included service
as the Navy’s first Competition Advocate General (appointed by President Reagan to be the Navy’s top businessman in uniform), responsibility for acquisition of aircraft carriers and submarines, senior leadership on Admiral Hyman G. Rickover’s personal staff, and highly-decorated service in Vietnam.
His extensive experience in the defense industrial sector includes service as a member of the corporate board of DRS Technologies, Inc., a multi-billion-dollar-per-year supplier of high-technology defense electronics and President and CEO of Western Marine Electronics, a leader in advanced commercial marine sonar systems; Chairman of the Ex-Wornick Company, suppliers of Combat and Humanitarian rations to the Department of Defense, and President of DRS Technologies Data Systems Group, where he led the growth of DRS Precision Echo, a supplier of combat aircraft recording equipment.
Admiral Platt holds an MS (Operations Analysis) from the Simon Graduate School of Business, as well as a BS degree from the University of Rochester, and an MBA from the University of Michigan. He is the published author of two books (The Armament Tide: Rearming America, and Letters from the Front Lines: Iraq and Afghanistan) and numerous Op-Ed and scholarly works. He is a former Wall Street Journal Scholar and is a graduate of the Executive Program at Stanford University’s Graduate School of Business.
