Sudip is a partner on the investment team at Lightspeed Venture Partners and invests in Infrastructure Software, Big Data and Security.
Before a16z, Sudip led technology investments at Osage University Partners, a new venture fund that invests exclusively in university spinouts, investing in companies such as Infnio (software-defined storage),
Skytree (machine learning), Surfcrew (browser security), and MC10 (wearables).
In his prior life, he had been an entrepreneur, an engineer and a technical manager in the technology industry. As a PhD student at Georgia Tech, Sudip started a software company to commercialize his doctoral research in semiconductor testing algorithms. He also cofounded a startup to develop a pioneering analytic platform for retailers based on the cloud computing infrastructure.
Sudip holds a PhD in Computer Engineering from Georgia Tech, a B.Tech in Electronics Engineering from Indian Institute of Technology, and an MBA (honors) with a dual major in Entrepreneurial Management and Finance from The Wharton School where he was a Joseph Wharton fellow.
