Thomas Culligan is senior vice president for Raytheon Company (NYSE: RTN). Raytheon Company, with 2012 sales of $24 billion and 68,000 employees worldwide, is a technology and innovation leader specializing in defense,homeland security and other government markets throughout the world. Raytheon’s global headquarters is in Waltham, Mass.
Previously, Thomas served as senior vice president of Business Development, and chief executive officer of Raytheon International, Inc., responsible for worldwide sales and marketing, Raytheon’s international business and its government relations and operations. He also was responsible for developing and leading the execution of Raytheon’s business strategy.
Thomas joined Raytheon in March 2001 from Honeywell International Inc., where Thomas was vice president and general manager of Defense and Space. Thomas had worldwide responsibility for all related sales, marketing and government relations activities, and directed the company’s aerospace operations in Europe, Russia, the Middle East and Africa. Thomas had line management and profit and loss responsibilities for the company’s defense aftermarket business and its technical services subsidiary,Honeywell Technology Solutions.
Thomas joined AlliedSignal in 1994 as vice president of Government Operations. Thomas held executive positions at McDonnell Douglas, including corporate vice president of Program Development and Marketing, and vice president and general manager of Government Affairs. Before joining McDonnell Douglas, Thomas was legislative director for Florida congressman Earl Hutto and chief of staff for Florida’s secretary of state.
Thomas earned a bachelor’s degree in government and a master’s degree in public administration at Florida State University and attended professional development courses at Harvard University and the Wharton School at the University of Pennsylvania. In the 1970s, Culligan served in the U.S. Air Force after receiving his ROTC commission.
