Tim is the CEO, Co-Founder of HoneycombData, an innovative distributed All Flash Storage system company.. Tim is working with a great engineering team to build up solutions leveraging NAND flash high performance and parallelism of data access; product targeted to IDC, DB, ISP, private clouds, AI and Autopilot. Tim is very a well known storage
veteran with 22+ years experience in storage industry, he is broadly connected with top executives and technical leaders across pacific regions. Tim is a very experienced entrepreneur with successful track records.
Previously, Tim was Co-Founder and founding CEO of TiDAL Systems. He successfully raised Series A funding from leading VCs and built a 25 person team within 10 months and secured major design wins within an year. TiDAL was a leading Enterprise PCIe3 SSD Controller (SoC) company supported by top talented engineers. The company was acquired by Micron in little over 2 years for close to couple of hundred million dollars and generated very high ROI for investors and shareholders.
Early on, Tim was the VP of worldwide Sales/Marketing/Customer Services at Link-A-Media Devices Inc. (“LAMD”), under the leaderships of its management, LAMD established itself as a leading LDPC technology leader for storage industry, Tim played instrumental role to secure customer/business engagement with leading NAND flash vendors with multiple high volume engagements with Toshiba, Seagate, HGST and SKHynix. Company grew its revenue to $30M+ within 12 months after Tim joined and LAMD was acquired by SKHynix for $250M+.
Before LSI, Tim spent 7.5 years with LSI (i.e. Broadcom now) as global storage Director of Sales/Marketing, he grew and managed Samsung, HGST, Toshiba global account team, grew those customers to become $500M combined annual revenue from zero. His team also enabled Samsung to become SAS SSD global leader with 35%+ market shares from zero.
Tim received his B.S. and M.S. in Space Physics at Peking University, M.S. in Electrical Engineering at Santa Clara University, and Tim was a PhD candidate and his research was on Space Detector Design for NASA (TIMES) at Physics department in the University of Texas, Dallas.
