Tim has been a programmer almost since he got his first Commodore 64 (there was a lot of time spent playing Jumpman at first). He's been writing Ruby code professionally since 2007, and was one of the first engineers at Justin.tv (now Twitch.tv), a search and data mining engineer at Yelp.com, and a founder of Vayable, a YCombinator-funded
startup.
Tim likes distributed key-value stores, avoiding software upgrades whenver possible, and he has a soft spot for C++. He has a BS in Computer Science and Biology from the University of Denver, and a PhD in Biochemistry from the University of Washington, where he studied computational biology. His favorite Ruby library is Matrix.
