Dr. Lau has over 20 years of experiences in life science, including VC and PE investment, start-up, corporate and business development, research, sales and marketing. He co-founded Cenova Ventures and plays an important role in all aspects of the fund since its inception.
Prior to Cenova Ventures, Dr. Lau was with Fidelity Asia Ventures (FAV),
where he specialized in healthcare investment in China. He was also on the board of FAV Portfolio Companies. Before joining FAV, Dr. Lau was the head of Corporate Development for Onyx Pharmaceuticals where he was responsible for investing in worldwide product opportunities through M&A and licensing, including managing Nexavar's relationship with Bayer.
Prior to Onyx, Dr. Lau held various positions with increasing responsibilities from Manager to Director of Corporate and Business Development at Bristol-Myers Squibb (BMS). During his tenure at BMS, Dr. Lau was in charge of global licensing activities for the BMS oncology discovery franchise and companion diagnostics, including acquiring novel therapeutics (e.g., Ipilimumab, first immune checkpoint therapy approved for melanom), in-licensing novel technologies related to biologics and personalized medicines (e.g., ImClone and Genomic Health), establishing and managing strategic collaborations (e.g., Exelixis), and out-licensing BMS non-core assets. He was also the head of business development of the former DuPont Pharma after the acquisition by BMS.
