William Lu is the Chairman and Managing General Partner of iD TechVentures (iDT VC) since its inception in 2000, which was renamed from Acer VC in 2005. Under Mr. Lu’s leadership, iDT VC has built its reputation as an active and reputable high-tech venture capital firm in Greater China. William has been managing four generations of limited partner
funds for more than US$400M with 21 successful exits of IPO/M&A as of April. 2009.
Prior to iDT VC, William was the Chairman, President and CEO of Acer Computer International Pte., Ltd. (ACI) from 1995 to 2000, responsible for Acer’s distribution business in the Asia Pacific, Middle East, Africa, India, and the Commonwealth of Independent States. He managed 14 national subsidiaries and established more than a thousand distribution partners in the region. William successfully brought ACI to publicly list on the Stock Exchange of Singapore in 1995 and was instrumental in building Acer brand name to become No. 1 in many countries. Under his leadership, ACI’s revenue grew significantly from US$137 million to US$869 million. William, a pioneering veteran of the IT industry joined Acer Group when he completed his academic education in 1977.
William holds a BSEE from the National Chiao Tung University in Taiwan. He was awarded the "Outstanding Alumnus" from National Chiao Tung University in 1999.
