Bill Placke is currently in charge of Corporate Development and Operations at TruU, Inc. Prior to TruU, Inc., Bill was the Head of Strategic Partnerships at Ericsson, Inc's Wireless Office unit following Ericsson's acquisition of Stratus Silver Lining (StratusWorX), a company he invested in and joined as person four. Having gone to law
school at night while working full-time at a highly regarded Intellectual Property law firm, Bill started his career as a corporate attorney in New York and thereafter joined Europe's largest law firm, Clifford Chance, as a cross-border mergers and acquisition attorney while simultaneously earning a Diploma in EU Law from King's College London at nights and on weekends. After a number of years with Clifford Chance, Bill joined Liberty Global's (UPC) executive team as the lead M&A attorney completing dozens of acquisitions across Eastern and Western Europe. Following SOX reforms Bill added roles as Board Director and Board Advisor across eight Liberty non-consolidated investments, a portfolio that was eventually spun off for more than $1B. Bill thereafter joined Charter Communications (Spectrum) in the US first as a Finance Attorney completing a multi-billion dollar exchange and later as an executive in charge of procurement or acquisitions in excess of $10M value. Bill thereafter began on the entrepreneurial trek including a couple that did not make it and a couple that achieved significant returns for investors, including one from inception through IPO on the London Stock Exchange. Currently he is both an investor and executive with TruU, Inc., a premiere Cybersecurity company in Continuous Adaptive Trust and passwordless solutions.
