Yorktel was founded by York Wang, who pioneered early efforts in video conferencing and saw its promise to transform the way people communicate. As an early innovator in the videoconferencing industry, he was responsible for digital video teleconferencing product planning and the systems engineering effort that defined prototype and initial
standard products, subsystem interfaces, initial maintenance capabilities and customer network control protocol for Bell Laboratories.
In 1985, York Wang founded York Telecom, and today his vision has grown into a full service organization offering professional videoconferencing and network consulting, operational and integration services to Government and Commercial markets. The company, now Yorktel, has become the leading managed services specialist for video conferencing and unified communications Globally. With offices throughout North America and a newly established office in EMEA, Yorktel makes video work for business and government clients throughout the world.
York Wang holds a Ph.D. and an MS in Solid State Physics from the University of Missouri at Columbia, and a specialist certificate in Quantum Electronics from the University of California at Los Angeles. York Wang received a patent for his Equalizing Signal Combiner. He has also published several articles in various technical and business publications. In 2000, York Wang was named the New Jersey Minority Small Business Person of the Year. In 2009, York Wang was named Ernst & Young’s Entrepreneur of the Year®. This award recognized entrepreneurial excellence in technology category.
