Unlike many two-year institutions, Modesto Junior College focuses on both academics and vocational training in order to provide a comprehensive community college experience. MJC provides educational services to students seeking to transfer to a four-year institution, as well as those who want to join the workforce soon and adults who’d like to
update their career skills.
In line with this mission, Modesto Junior College offers a number of certificates and associate’s degrees through its 11 academic divisions. The school also has nearly 30 vocational certificates, from Auto Body Collision Repair to Fire Science.
If you’re unsure of what you’d like to study, the Career Development & Transfer Center can help you pinpoint your academic and professional aspirations.
The school also provides extensive services to the local adult community. The school’s Core Skills courses allow students to strengthen their math, English, reading and science skills. It also offers a GED preparation and English-as-second-language courses to help improve your employability.
In addition to the Core Skills courses, adults can take non-credit classes at Modesto Junior College for personal enrichment. These courses are ideal if you’ve ever dreamed of being in a musical ensemble, would like to kickstart your workout schedule, or simply want to stay sharp.
